It’s buying time again!

It feels as if this summer hasn’t arrived yet and I’m already well into buying for spring/summer ’23. It might seem crazy buying so far in advance but for me, it’s far easier buying for next summer whilst still in summer mode, I would find it impossible buying summer dresses and sandals whilst wrapped up in several layers and a big coat! So, for the next 3 months, I’m out and about buying, I’m already 7 collections in but have a long way to go!
So far SS23 is looking AMAZING. I always look for colour and print in my collections and the shop has a great reputation for it, there is something about a shop full of colour that is guaranteed to lift your spirits. The pre-spring collections have been brimming with both and if I’m honest, some were overbrimming. It’s been quite a challenge choosing the right prints and colour to ensure the collections blend together rather than fight with each other. Our brands have really upped their game, they know print and detail are key and they’ve gone all out for next season! I may have blown the budget slightly but sometimes things are just too good to leave off my rail!
So, what’s SS23 looking like so far? I’ve gone for a bit of a split in colour palette, firstly there’s soft natural pastel tones of blue, green, pinks and creams, lots of texture from knitwear, super soft check coats and luxurious organic jerseys. Then we have a real pop of colour with emerald, cobalt and orange with highlights of acid yellow, lime green and tangerine, solid colours and then mixed to create striking prints in stripes, florals and animal prints, it shouldn’t work but it just does!
Statement knitwear features throughout the collections, some great sleeve detail and volume and great news, the cardigan is back! Lots of fantastic cardigans across all brands, short, long and slouchy grandad shapes, I love a good cardigan, they really are an essential wardrobe layer piece, especially in spring.
My favourite thing so far has to be coloured trousers. Legs are staying wider and more relaxed which is great and there are some great styles of trousers and jeans coming in cobalt blue, bright orange, green and oyster pink. There’s still a good selection of staple colours too so black, navy and denim are also in there!
Don’t forget, if there’s anything you want to see in store, let us know and I’ll do my best to find it. Not wanting to wish winter away before it arrives but I can’t wait for SS23.
